About the company

A metrology supplier with a narrow range, a written specification behind every instrument, and a habit of naming the conditions a figure was measured under.

How it started

The company has worked in measurement since 2016 from Baku, Azerbaijan. It began around a complaint that is common in this trade: two people measure the same part, read two different numbers, and neither of them wrote down the instrument, the resolution or the temperature. Nothing about the part had changed. Writing the whole measurement down was the correction.

The range has stayed small since. Six lines cover the quantities we can stand behind, and a seventh has been turned down more than once because covering it properly would have meant issuing a certificate we could not defend.

What the company does

The specialisation is calibration and precision measurement. In practice that means four things: matching an instrument to a stated tolerance, supplying it against a written specification, calibrating it against traceable standards and issuing a certificate with the figures on it, and keeping the register that says when each instrument is due again.

Instruments and calibration are supplied against a written quotation. Nothing is sold through this site, no price list is published here, and no order is taken from a web page.

The method

Three commitments do most of the work. The first is that the tolerance chooses the instrument, not the other way round: resolution finer than a tenth of the tolerance, or a different instrument. The second is that every figure we issue carries its range, its resolution, its uncertainty and its conditions, so the certificate can be read rather than interpreted. The third is that the as-found values are reported before any adjustment, because those are the only figures that say anything about the parts already measured.

A measured pace at specification stage is part of the method rather than a limitation of it. Nearly every argument we are called into began before the instrument was picked up.

What the company does not do

We do not certify a quantity, a range or an accuracy class we have not measured, however the request is phrased. We do not issue a certificate that says only pass or fail, because that is a verdict and not a measurement. We do not publish a price list, since a price without a specification is a number nobody can honour. And we do not adjust an instrument quietly and report the tidy figure — where a request needs a scope we do not hold, we say so and point elsewhere.
